Every community band faces its own challenges at various times of their existence. Younger, newly formed bands might be looking to get themselves up and operating by establishing things like a Board of Directors, 501(c)3 status and getting their operation off the ground. Older, already established organizations might be at a plateau, ready to take the next step in developing new facets of their organization to meet the needs or wants of their members and community.
Hello, my name is Robert Pouliot, "Bob" to my friends around the band world. In my 30 years as Music Director of the City of Fairfax Band Association, serving Northern Virginia and the metro Washington, DC area, I can honestly say I have seen and experienced just about all of it. My goal is to help other groups at various stages of their development find the right path forward. Having led my group through many different phases of growth, I have seen first hand not only the incredibly rewarding results of exploring new challenges, but also have met first hand the obstacles and unexpected results of unintended consequences. I'd like the opportunity of sharing my experiences with you and helping you to achieve success in finding that "next big thing" that will help your group provide a more meaningful experience for both your members and the community you serve.
I look forward to helping you along your journey, sharing my experiences with you and assisting you in achieving your goals. I'm here to listen, whether you are looking for simple one-off advice through a friendly email or chat, or to visit with your board and band members (virtually or in person) to provide in-depth discussion and advice rooted in my own experiences. My life as a community band director has provided me much joy and fulfillment. Let me use my experience to help you find the same!
